Departing from its usual speaker format, LSDM will host a roundtable discussion on Park City, UT's proposed Arts and Culture District. Park City Councilman, Steve Joyce, also and LSDM Regular, will moderate the discussion. The discussion will last one hour and one half, extending LSDM's usual hour long format by thirty minutes. The Zoom enabled round table discussion is open to all members of the community. Zoom Access: 435 640 2222. Zoom Passcode 01012020. Attendees must be identified by name in their "zoom box," Unidentified attendees will be "removed from the room." While LSDM doesn't want to discourage "black screen" participants, questioners and those having comments will need to be visible to participate in the Q and A.
In a prior presentation to LSDM, Councilman Joyce praised the concept of the city's developing an Arts and Culture District, but noted that the expenditure would be significant, so much so that it could tie the hands of future city councils to engage in other, necessary projects. Is there a way to pare down the cost? ... stage the development over multiple phases, say, over a ten year period? Should the project, rather than drawing from city resources, be bonded? Why not turn the project over to a private developer? Or, should we move forward on the current plan, having confidence that Park City's growing reputation as a world class recreational center will be enhanced by an arts and culture dimension?
LSDMers and community members are encouraged to join in the round table discussion, prepared with their own comments and questions.
